Burney Falls, California, September 2015: Do you see where it looks like water is flowing out of the sides of the cliff? Groundwater springs riddle the side of the fractured basalt bedrock. Burney Creek makes up the 2 largest channels flowing over land surface at the top of the falls. Seasonally the creek often runs dry upstream of the falls.
